Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Watch Trust. The most important point comes first: we record and structure evidence about a watch — we do not certify that a watch is genuine.
Last updated: 27 August 2026
1. The service
Watch Trust, operated by the Watch Trust team, is a digital ownership record for watches. It stores the identity, provenance, documents, service history, condition and valuations you enter, and lets vetted professionals add their own findings alongside them.
2. What verification means — and what it does not
- User-reported data is what you state. It is labelled as yours and is not checked by us.
- Professionally verified data is a finding signed by a platform-vetted professional, limited to what they examined, on the date shown.
- AI suggestions are automated hypotheses with a confidence value. They are never verification and never change a record's status.
- Watch Trust issues no authenticity guarantee, no appraisal warranty and no certificate. A record is evidence to be evaluated, not a legal proof of authenticity, ownership or value.
3. Your account
You must be at least 16 and provide an accurate email address. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out under your account. One person, one account; do not share access to circumvent plan limits.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the records, photos and documents you upload. You grant us only the licence needed to store, process and display them to you and to the people you choose to share them with. You confirm you are entitled to upload what you upload.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not upload forged, altered or misleading documents.
- Do not claim professional status you do not hold, or misrepresent a verification.
- Do not upload records for watches you do not own or are not authorised to document.
- Do not attempt to access records, files or accounts that are not yours, or to probe or bypass access controls.
- Do not use the service to facilitate the sale of stolen or counterfeit goods.
We may suspend an account, flag a record or remove content that breaches these rules, and we may report unlawful activity to the competent authorities.
6. Professionals
Professionals are vetted before they can verify, and act on their own responsibility for the findings they sign. Watch Trust facilitates the exchange; it is not a party to any separate agreement between you and a professional and does not warrant their conclusions.
7. Sharing and transfers
A passport link is unlisted and not indexed, but anyone holding the link can open it — share it deliberately. A transfer moves the record's history and the documents you select to the new owner; it does not move your personal account data, and past history remains part of the record. Transfers are irreversible once accepted.
8. Plans, payment and cancellation
- The Free plan is limited to two active records. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment provider.
- You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period, and no further charge is taken.
- Consumers in the EU have a 14-day right of withdrawal on a new subscription; by starting to use a paid feature immediately you accept that the service begins during that period, and any refund is prorated to what was used.
- If you downgrade below your record count, existing records are never deleted — they become read-only until you upgrade again.
9. Availability
We work to keep the service available and your data intact, but it is provided without any uptime guarantee. Maintenance and interruptions may occur. Keep your own copies of documents that are critical to you.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for lost profits, missed sales, or the decisions you or a third party take on the basis of a record. Nothing here limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or statutory consumer rights.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time; we then delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy, keeping only what evidence integrity or law requires. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law applicable to the operator's place of establishment within the European Union (GDPR), without prejudice to the protections of your country of residence as a consumer. Questions: legal@watchtrust.app.
